MDD Voices | Client Story: SVA Aargau - Creative Freedom in Digital Reporting
6:16

With our MDD Voices series, we put the people behind successful corporate reporting in the spotlight: clients, partners, colleagues, and industry professionals who bring reporting to life. We share their experiences in their own words: authentic, candid, and insightful.

In each story, we explore what drives better reporting outcomes: trusted collaboration, structured workflows, and continuous digital evolution.

In this Client Story, Linda Keller, Co-Head of Marketing Communications at SVA Aargau, and Lucas Galli, Co-CEO of Qube, share how SVA Aargau transformed its annual reporting. Their experience shows how creative freedom can thrive within a structured reporting process when client, agency, and MDD bring their respective expertise together.

Digital First, also in corporate reporting

SVA Aargau follows a Digital First approach across its services. Digital solutions make information more accessible and help the organization address the different needs of its target audiences. Applying the same thinking to the annual report was therefore a natural next step.

But for SVA Aargau, the annual report is more than a reporting document. It is also a representation of the organization itself. Prospective employees, for example, use it to learn more about SVA Aargau. The report therefore needed to feel modern, engaging, and representative of the organization's values.

At the same time, digitalization should not mean having to choose between formats. Alongside the online report, a high-quality PDF remained an important requirement.

With the MDD Platform, both formats were able to be produced from the same source.

Creative freedom within a structured reporting process

Introducing a digital reporting solution should not mean compromising an established brand or limiting the role of the client's design agency.

For SVA Aargau, maintaining its recently introduced Corporate Design was an important requirement. This made the close collaboration between SVA Aargau, Qube, and MDD a central part of the project.

Qube and MDD worked together to adapt SVA Aargau's Corporate Design for the digital report while also optimizing the layout of the PDF. Both outputs now fit seamlessly into SVA Aargau's overall brand presence.

The collaboration also demonstrates an important principle for agencies working with MDD: the technology provides structure without dictating the creative outcome.

MDD brings the technical and reporting expertise, while the agency continues to contribute its creative know-how and understanding of the client's brand. As Lucas explains in the interview, MDD's openness to listen to the agency, exchange ideas, and explore new approaches together was an important part of making the collaboration work.

One source, multiple reporting formats

Creating the SVA Aargau annual report is a team effort. Many contributors are involved, and its reporting encompasses more than the annual report alone. It also includes integrated sustainability reporting, a GRI Index, and social insurance statistics.

Bringing content and information together on one central platform therefore creates tangible benefits.

Instead of maintaining information across different documents and manually transferring content between them, everyone involved can work from a central source.

For SVA Aargau, this has:

  • made the reporting process more efficient,

  • reduced the potential for errors,

  • eliminated manual copy-and-paste work,

  • reduced correction and layout rounds,

  • and saved valuable time.

Most importantly, the same source can now be used to publish the annual report in different formats: as an interactive online report and as a high-quality PDF.

Reliability when deadlines matter

Corporate reporting comes with fixed deadlines. When unexpected issues arise, reliable collaboration becomes even more important.

Linda describes her experience with MDD as consistently positive. Knowing that MDD would deliver on time and at a high level of quality provided security throughout the reporting process, even when unforeseen situations required flexibility.

The support also extended beyond the technical implementation of the platform.

MDD's project management helped SVA Aargau prepare content and files, supported the team in learning how to use the platform effectively, and identified inconsistencies that could affect the content or visual quality of the report.

Technology, expertise, and hands-on support therefore came together in one collaborative reporting process.

From going live to continuously improving

The moment SVA Aargau's digital report went live marked an important milestone. Behind that moment was a considerable amount of work and collaboration, and the result reflected the wider digital development of the organization.

The new digital report brings the content to life through interactive graphics and tables and has generated positive feedback from SVA Aargau's audiences.

But going digital also creates possibilities beyond the report itself.

SVA Aargau can now use analytics data to understand how its audiences interact with the reporting content. These insights provide a valuable foundation for continuously developing the report and aligning future content more closely with the needs of different target groups.

Digitalization therefore doesn't end when the report goes live. It provides a foundation for making the next reporting cycle even better.

A Human Perspective on Collaboration

The MDD Voices stories show what reporting really looks like: not just numbers and chapters, but people, conversations, decisions, creativity, and teamwork. They offer a human perspective on the collaboration behind every successful report.

We are proud to share this Client Story with SVA Aargau and Qube. It demonstrates what becomes possible when client, agency, and reporting technology work together: creative freedom within a structured process, a consistent brand experience across channels, and reporting that can continue to evolve.
